How to Access Blocked Websites

Blocking access to undesirable Web sites has been a common government tactic.

Social sites that are often blocked include Google News, Typepad, ebay, Blogger blogs, YouTube, Facebook, Bebo, Myspace, Orkut, MySpace, Pandora, etc.

There are always legitimate reasons to bypass the internet filters and unblock websites. The following tricks will show how to access all websites at school, college, offices or at home.

1 To access blocked website, type the IP number instead of the URL in the browser address bar. However, if your blocking software maps the IP address to the web server (reverse DNS lookup), the website will still remain blocked.

2 Use a URL redirection service like tinyurl.com or snipurl.com. These domain forwarding services sometimes work as the address in the the url box remain the redirect url and do not change to the banned site.

3 Enter the URL in Google or Yahoo search and then visit the cached copy of the page. To retrieve the page more quickly from Google’s cache, click “Cached Text Only” while the browser is loading the page from cache.

4 There are anonymizer websites who will fetch the blocked web page from their servers and display them to you. As far as the service provider is concerned, you are viewing the page on the Anonymizer website and not the blocked site.

Example: http://anonymouse.org/anonwww.html etc...

5 You can access blocked or restricted websites by using Yahoo Babelfish or Google Translate language tools as a proxy server. But you just have to invoke the Google translate service with the language pair like English to Hindi or English to some other languages.

6: Browse the internet via proxy server software. Example: Your freedom, ultrasurf, tor....

Change Start button name in Windows XP

First of all you will have to download Resource hacker.

What is Resource Hacker?

Resource Hacker is a freeware utility to view, modify, rename, add, delete and extract resources in 32bit Windows executables and resource files (*.res). It incorporates an internal resource script compiler and decompiler and works on Win95, Win98, WinME, WinNT, Win2000 and WinXP operating systems.

Viewing Resources: Cursor, Icon, Bitmap, GIF, AVI, and JPG resource images can be viewed. WAV and MIDI audio resources can be played. Menus, Dialogs, MessageTables, StringTables, Accelerators, Delphi Forms, and VersionInfo resources can be viewed as decompiled resource scripts. Menus and Dialogs can also be viewed as they would appear in a running application.

Saving Resources: Resources can be saved as image files (*.ico, *.bmp etc), as script files (*.rc), as binary resource files (*.res), or as untyped binary files (*.bin).

Modifying Resources: Resources can be modified by replacing the resource with a resource located in another file (*.ico, *.bmp, *.res etc) or by using the internal resource script compiler (for menus, dialogs etc). Dialog controls can also be visually moved and/or resized by clicking and dragging the respective dialog controls prior to recompiling with the internal compiler.

Adding Resources: Resources can be added to an application by copying them from external resource files (*.res).

Deleting Resources: Most compilers add resources into applications which are never used by the application. Removing unused resources can reduce an application's size.

1. Create a system restore point just incase if something goes wrong you can roll back to the original settings or make a backup copy of the file explorer.exe located at C:\Windows\explorer. Place it in a folder somewhere on your hard drive where it will be safe.

2. Open Resource Hacker utility. Click on File >> Open. Type “explorer.exe” in the text box.

3. Expand String Table, select 37 from the tree view and click on 1033. If you are using the Classic Layout rather than the XP Layout, use number 38.

4. The right hand pane will display the stringtable. We’re going to modify item 578, currently showing the word “start” just as it displays on the current Start button.

5. Just double click on the word “start” so that it’s highlighted, making sure the quotation marks are not part of the highlight. They need to remain in place, surrounding the new text that you’ll type. Go ahead and type your new entry say “hibro”.

6. Open registry editor by clicking on Start ; Run and typing “regedit” at the text box. Navigate to HKEY_Local_Machine ; Software ; Microsoft ; Windows NT ; CurrentVersion -; Winlogon

7. In the Right pane double click the Shell entry to open the Edit String dialog box. In Value data: line, enter the name that was used to save the modified explorer.exe file say “blog”. Click OK.

8. Close Registry Editor and either log off the system and log back in, or reboot the entire system if that’s your preference. Now you should see your new Start button with the revised text.

BackTrack 5 Released – The Most Advanced Linux Security Distribution & LiveCD

We have of course been following BackTrack since the very early days, way back in 2006 when it was just known as BackTrack – A merger between WHAX and Auditor. They’ve come a long way and BackTrack is now a very polished and well rounded security distro, most of the others have dropped off the map leaving BackTrack as the giant in the security LiveCD space.

The last major release was BackTrack Final 4 Released – Linux Security Distribution – back in January 2010.

The BackTrack Dev team has worked furiously in the past months on BackTrack 5, code name “revolution” – they released it on May 10th. This new revision has been built from scratch, and boasts several major improvements over all our previous releases. It’s based on Ubuntu Lucid LTS – Kernel 2.6.38, patched with all relevant wireless injection patches. Fully open source and GPL compliant.

The interesting part for me is that the new .ISO downloads offer multiple versions, including a choice between GNOME and KDE desktops and the images include ARM, 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions.

New in Version 5 :
  • Based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
  • Linux kernel 2.6.38 (with wireless injection patches)
  • KDE 4.6
  • GNOME 2.6
  • 32-bit and 64-bit support
  • · Metasploit 3.7.0
  • Forensics mode (a forensically sound instance)
  • Stealth mode (without generating network traffic)
  • Initial ARM image of BackTrack (for Android-powered devices)

Top 25 BlackBerry Secret Codes To Unlock Hidden Menus And Features

Here you will find many hidden and secret codes that can turn your Blackberry into a super-smartphone. To access the many hidden menus in your BlackBerry you must type special codes either at the status screen or in particular menus.

Your search for customizing the BlackBerry with Tweaks, Secret Codes and Hidden Keys is over! Many of these codes can be activated by pressing and holding the ALT key. Others however, don’t require the ALT key: to activate them you must type a combination of letters while you are in a certain menu. Note that there’s nothing magical about these secret codes. All they do is unlock menus or show stats that most people don’t know about and that can be useful in various contexts.

ALT Codes
